Successful 2024 On-property sale

There was gold at the end of the rainbow today (26 September 2024) for buyers at the annual Rocklyn Merino Stud on-property ram sale.

Seventy-seven of one hundred lots sold for an average of $2,200 during the sale with a few of the passed-in rams selling directly after the sale.

The top priced ram was lot 3, 230742, which sold to Padang Pastoral of Kangaira for $6,500. Padang Pastoral had been interested in the ram since seeing him at the SWS Stud Merino Breeders Field Day earlier in the month and were impressed with his figures FD 16.7, BWT 103.5Kg, YCFW 24.4, PWT 10.7, YWT 14.5.

Volume buyers today included McKellar Pastoral Co taking home 13 for an average of $1,561, Warralong Pastoral Co with 11 for an average of $2,159, TH Cooper and Co with 10 for an average of $3,395 and GH Robertson 8 at an average of $1,625.

It was great to see a good crowd despite the cold conditions and witness the many faces of the father-son duo of Luke and Jack Whitty of Kevin Miller Whitty Lennon & Co working hard for the bids.

A big thanks to Scott Thrift Stud Stock & Sheep Specialist for your assistance and our selling agents, AWN for managing the sale.

Thanks to everyone who came along today and those who helped out - our buyers and underbidders, KMWL and AWN staff, agents, and the Rocklyn team.

A special mention to Stephen Burns, covering the sale for The Land. We believe it was one of the last sales he will cover. Stephen has been an incredible advocate for the sheep and wool industry and we will miss him and his pink hat at our sale!

Rams passed in and those not included in the sale are now available through private on-farm sales. Please contact us to book an inspection.
