Rocklyn Merino Stud celebrates 75 years

Rocklyn Merino Stud, owned and managed by Ralph Diprose, will hold its inaugural on property Merino ram sale on Thursday 12th September 2013. Fifty 2012 drop Merino and Poll Merino hogget rams will be offered through an auction commencing at 1:00pm, with inspections and registrations from 11:00am on the day.

In 2013, Rocklyn celebrates 75 years of Merino breeding and invites existing clients as well as new buyers to attend the inaugural sale.

‘With the introduction of Poll Merinos and the clientele list growing, I saw it as a good opportunity to showcase the genetic advancements Rocklyn has made in the past few years’ Ralph said.

‘We have made significant improvements to our breeding program that have allowed us to achieve our aim of breeding plain bodied, heavy cutting sheep in the 19-20 micron range that have high fertility and good early growth rates.

Our sheep produce long-stapled, bright, soft handling wool that is well nourished to withstand the local climate’.

Rocklyn Merino Stud recently won the Grand Champion Merino Entry at the 2013 Grenfell Show and, this week, a selection of the stud’s best Merinos will be on display at the Southwest Slopes Merino Breeders Field Day, to be held at St. Clements Retreat in Galong on Thursday 5th September.

Rocklyn has also recently launched its new website, www.rocklynmerinostud.com.au, with the assistance of the wonderful team at D.A. Yates in Grenfell.

‘The new website will enable clients to view sale ram statistics and photographs prior to the sale and keep them up to date with Rocklyn’s sales, benchmarking results and success stories’ Ralph said.

The inaugural ram sale will be held at ‘Elon’, 343 Barkers Rd Greenethorpe. The sale catalogue can also be viewed online. Private ram sales will also be conducted from mid-September onwards, following the inaugural sale.
